Question 1
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of film openings)
Question 2
2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?
question 3
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My opening sequence for the film print out would be distributed by a relatively small and independent production company, and this is because of the independent and low budget nature of the film. My film would not likely be distributed by a large production company such as disney, snd this is because of the fact that disney focuses on simple child friendly and easy to understand narratives and plots, most commonly animations, therefore 'print out' would not be a suitable name for Disney to put their name behind as it has a fairly complicated ratite and is not very child friendly due to the nature o the plot and the fact that a serious crime has been committed.
Therefore a production company that might help distribute our short film would be someone like film 4, who distribute much smaller independent films, with a more gritty and disturbing narrative, that isn't always child friendly, this is the case with the film 'Ex Machina' as this film was a small budget independent film much like our film opening sequence 'print out' and film 4 worked with DNA to produce and distribute the film, it is for that reason that film 4 would be an ideal production company for the distribution of our film, 'print out'. question 4
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
question 5
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
Our group managed to attract our target audience by include two main male lead characters, this is because of the fact that our target audience (based on the research we conducted using the online database website 'YouGov profiles) are women aged 25 - 50, therefore having two male leads would be ideal to attract our target audience, in addition to this the two male leads were representing two mature characters ( each in their own way) with one of the male leads being a juror and one of the leads being a mature criminal. the fact that we have two young mature male leads is stereotypically more likely to attract a female audience, furthermore the young male juror in our short film, is sown to be a very well off upper middle class, and this is shown through the mise en scene such as the nice clothes that he wears and the big and well decorated house that the juror is seen to be living in. The fact that the juror is seen to be well off and in an upper middle class social status, is also stereotypically attractive to a young female audience and thus, this is just another way our group has used the mise en scene to attract our target audience and tailor the viewing experience to them.
